PENNISETUM JESTER

Unique foliage colour is ever-changing as the plant develops, making Jester appealing in mixed containers, gardens and landscapes. Young leaves are chartreuse with a subtle overlay of burgundy, while mature foliage becomes dominantly burgundy especially in full sun. As flower spikes develop, plants end the season with nearly the same bronze-purple colour as Purple Majesty. Jester comes into flower 7 to 10 days later than Purple Baron and Purple Majesty, and tends to stay compact longer into the season. At the time of flowering, Jester has a garden height about three-quarters of Purple Majesty, with wider leaves and more basal-branching. Best grown warm; well-suited to 4-in. (10-cm) to gallon containers in Spring to Autumn programs.
